Chris Johnston

Chris joined McDonald Steed McGrath in 2008 as a solicitor and Registered Migration Agent. Graduating from the University of New England in New South Wales with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours, Chris was admitted to legal practice in South Australia in 2005. Beginning his career in civil litigation, Chris became a Registered Migration Agent in 2006.
Since joining McDonald Steed McGrath, Chris has been actively involved in all aspects of Migration Law with a particular focus on:
- Employer Sponsored visas
- Business Skills visas
- Family Migration
- MRT appeals
Chris specialises in Employer Sponsored Visas, including temporary working visas (457s) and permanent residency applications. Employer Sponsored Visas have become a practical and valued way of addressing Australia's skills shortages. Chris has been able to assist employers and employees in many industries including construction, mining, hospitality, medical research and education.
He also has extensive experience in the preparation of argument for appeals and in supporting review applicants and their witnesses in hearings before the Migration Review Tribunal.
McDonald Steed McGrath is a member of energy and resource bodies SACOME and PIRSA. Chris is a member of the Migration Institute of Australia (MIA) and the Law Society of South Australia.
